Chamomile Essential Oil

German Chamomile (known as both Matricaria chamomilla or Marticaria recutica) and Roman Chamomile (known as both Anthemis nobilis or Chamaemelum nobile) can be used interchangeably. Both German chamomile and Roman chamomile essential oils are sources of azulene, a natural chemical, which is soothing to the skin. Azulene is produced when the flowers undergo distillation to remove the essential oil. Chamomile is used in cosmetics for its skin soothing and anti-inflammatory properties.
